Mercure & ibis Styles Galati to open in mid-2020

Orbis Hotel Group – the strategic partner of Accor in South Eastern Europe, has signed a management agreement in Romania for operating two existing hotels that will undergo modernization and will be re-branded into Mercure Galati Centrum (66 rooms) and into a ibis Styles Galati Dunarea (79 rooms).

“We are further strengthening our leading position in Romania by dynamically expanding the network of hotels under Accor brands not only in the capital, but also in key regional cities like Galati. Together with our local partners - with the opening of Mercure Galati Centrum and ibis Styles Galati Dunarea, we want to offer to business & leisure travelers in Romania the widest offer of hotels as possible,” commented Frank Reul, Head of Development of Orbis & Accor in Eastern Europe.

Both hotels are located ideally, at 13 & 12 Domneasca Street – in walking distance to the Old Town and next to the Galati Port, the biggest port on the Danube River and the second largest in Romania.

The renovation plan of these two hotels will include: modernization of rooms, restaurants and public areas up to the standards of the Mercure and ibis Styles brands as well as investments in latest IT & digital services that will offer a seamless, efficient and personalized guest experience.

The hotels, expected to open in 2Q 2020, will join Mercure and ibis Styles, Accor’s internationally well-known and recognized midscale and economy brands. Mercure is the only midscale hotel brand that combines the strength of an international network with a strong quality commitment and the warm experience of hotels that are rooted in their local community. Today, more than 790 hotels worldwide hotels operate under the Mercure brand in 63 countries. Mercure is regarded as one of the strongest hotel brand worldwide.

ibis Styles is the Accor’s economy brand, offering unique design and atmosphere, a relaxed, friendly service, where guests can feel the conviviality and the local touch of the city. Creativity and good humor are the hallmarks of these comfortable, designer hotels, having a network of almost 470 properties in 45 countries.

The management agreement has been signed for a period of 15 years.
